How Ibogaine Detox Treatment Overcomes Drug Addictions

By Donald Wright

For several years, drug addiction has been a leading cause of deaths of many adults and teenagers in various states. The addiction of opiates from illegal ones such as heroin, cocaine to medically prescribed ones like oxycodone, over-dependence on them requires immediate treatment lest something bad happens to the user. Ibogaine Detox Treatment has been applied to help reduce these situations to a minimum.

The native plant known as Iboga is the main source of the substance Ibogaine which is extracted from the roots or the barks of the tree. The substance can be administered to a patient in the form of a pill and works by resetting opiate receptors in the brain. This chemical dependency can be reset and allow the body and mind to be free from the dependency of these harmful substances.

The use of these substance is still undergoing much discussion but has been used on some individuals who have shown some remarkable improvement. Comparing the usual treatments which involve long days of withdrawal and pain, the individual will only experience this for a short while and get back on track. However, it is required to be administered legally in a clinic in the presence of a practitioner.

Before the commencement of the treatment, a medical examination has to be done. This is because the treatment is both emotional and physical in nature and people with some preconditions are not allowed to take Ibogaine. People having conditions such as epilepsy, psychiatric disorders, heart diseases, pregnant, lung diseases among others do not qualify as candidates for this treatment.

For the substance to work properly, it is administered to a patient in a hospital set up and has three stages of effects that the person will experience. The first stage which is the Awakened Dream or Acute state. Here the person experiences a dreamlike situation whereby he or she experiences past events that occurred while he or she was conscious which lead to addiction of the substance which later will help the patient understand the leading cause of addiction.

Upon completion of the first stage the patient goes to the next stage which involves introspection. Here the individual will be more reflective of what he or she has experienced during the first stage. At this point, having a specialist to help the individual understand what he or she has seen is helpful and will help in recovery. This step may render the person to be weak and may have to spend some hours in bed.

In the stimulation phase which is the third step, the individual will have regained some strength due to the drug being flushed from his or her mind and body. This is where corrective living is done, whereby the individual learns on importance of living a clean life and how to do so with the help of a specialist.

After going through these stages, the person is advised to sign up from therapy sessions. This will help the individual to get more professional advice on proper ways of living and prevent a relapse. The chances of a relapse are not completely off the table hence the more reason why the person should be attending therapy sessions.
