There are specific areas that these specialties specialize in. To encourage good dental health, dental public health practitioners work with different groups of people. They usually educate them on how to keep up proper health hygiene for the purpose of preventing oral problems. However, endodontist are specialized in conducting root-canal therapy. They do this by removing nerves and blood vessels from infected teeth so that it can die. The procedure is usually important in order to prevent other oral conditions from affecting the patient. A new field that is strongly coming up in the field of dentistry is cosmetic dentistry. This field focuses on improving the aesthetic appearance of teeth. Most dentists refer to themselves as cosmetic dentists regardless of their areas of specialization. Some of the procedures performed in cosmetic dentistry include teeth whitening, teeth alignment, jaw alignment, and achievement of good breath. Besides diagnosing and treatment dental problems, some dentists go into teaching or research. Those that teach work as lecturers at institutions of higher learning such as colleges and universities. In most cases, it is mandatory for one to complete a PhD degree in order for them to be able to lecture at college and university level. In conclusion, some of the professionals become researchers and work in research facilities. Duties carried out in these institutions involve finding new medication to treat dental illnesses and conditions. Some of the research institution are normally owned by the government while other are privately owned. Any dentistry field a dentist chooses work in is important to the society.
