The colon (also known as the large intestine) is a part of the digestive system where water from digested food is absorbed. After the absorption, the remaining food passes to the rectum and then leaves the body through the anus. The colon is divided into four parts namely the ascending, the transverse, the descending and the sigmoid colons. Its role in digestion is quite vital and should thus be given proper care.
