Drug Abuse is a common phenomenon that many youth suffer from across the world. This has robbed numerous nations of a young labor force capable of making change in country economy. Such challenges are aggravated when they find themselves in the presence of potentially harmful substances. Some of the addicts are capable of relapsing while others can die when they lack the strength to survive. Conducting such discussions are beneficial as they engage the minds of the patients and any thoughts of relapse do not cross their minds.

Counselling sessions are categorized into individual, family and group sessions. Individual sessions simply consist of activities intended to keep the patients busy. Several activities consist of communal work and time management skills are instilled through their minds. Family sessions involve conducting discussions based on drug abuse. Last but not least, group sessions consist of interactions with like-minded patients and the sharing of thoughts support in the recovery process.

Recovery is the final phase but the most difficult as it is filled with obstacles along the way. Sobriety should be upheld at all times by the recovering addicts to ensure they are completely drug free and are able to live normal lives. Recovering addicts are encouraged to make regular appointments whenever they feel prone to relapse. This is crucial as it serves as a reminder to the addict on challenges they have faced and the future they face.

All these stages need to be completed in a logical order as explained above to ensure the recovery process is a success. Failure to this is most likely to contribute to relapse or even death when care is not taken to ensure the health safety of the candidate.
