Which Fats To Eat On Keto

By John Jones

Keto diet gets more and more popular lately. The whole thing is to force your body into the state of ketosis, normally simply by limiting carbohydrate intake, and taking most of your daily calories in the form of various fats. In this state, the body will use fat cells for the source of energy it will normally get from carbohydrates. But, when it comes to fats to eat on keto, you have to make sure to consume healthy ones mainly.

Being on diet is never easy, but you will find it much easier with this diet than with any other. Ketones in your blood suppress appetite, and your energy levels will be more than satisfying, once you get used to this new regime. The best thing in this particular diet is that you actually eat fat to lose extra weight. It doesn't sound very convincing, but it really works.

The one thing you should not eat is carbs. So, considering the fact the body usually uses carbs as a predominant source of energy, when you limit the intake of carbohydrates, it has to find another source, and fats are obvious choice. Of course, the body keeps some reserves, but carbohydrate reserves are small, really limited.

When you are on some other diet, once those glucose reserves are spent, the organism will reach for fat reserves, eventually, but you will not see the results on your belly. There are two types of fat cells, ones that act as alpha receptors, and ones that act as beta receptors. When you are on other diets, you will mostly use, if any, alpha receptor fat cells.

In the periods of fasting, the body is forced into the ketosis. The same thing happens if you limit the intake of carbohydrates. You have to eat fats, so your body can start spending existing reserves. Strange, but it works. The thing called catecholamine will attach to those beta receptor fat cells, and release fatty acids stored there.

Lipolysis, or the process of releasing fatty acids, is stimulated by beta cells, and impeded by alpha cells. It all sounds complicated, but it really isn't. In any case, it's good to know that you can actually lose those stubborn fat cells from your belly area, and that you won't be hungry during this process. Actually, you will be able to eat many tasty things.

Reducing carbohydrates won't be easy, because you take various hidden carbs every day. In any case, 50 to 60 grams of carbs is your limit. When it comes to the total amount of calories in your keto, make sure 20 to 30 percent comes from proteins. Take healthy fats only, or at least mostly. Avocado, nuts, previously soaked seeds, butter, olive oil and similar fats will be good.

In this diet it might be really hard to get enough valuable vitamins and minerals, although you are allowed to eat green vegetables. Take vitamin and mineral supplements with no sugar with enough water, to prevent dehydration. Since you won't be so hungry as with other diet regimes, you will find this diet to be much easier to stick to.
