The Four Main Types of Medical Hair Loss

Many people consider baldness or significant thinning to be a key sign of aging. However, this is not necessarily true: over 50 million people, men and women aged 18 and older in the United States, are experiencing some level of hair loss. You can really say that it is a normal part of life. More reassuring is the fact that many see good results from different hair loss treatment styles. There are four types of treatments performed today, ranging from medicine to surgery.

1. Medicine

There are two drugs from the FDA for the treatment of hair loss approved doctors who are successful in the market today. Brand drug contains one of the following active substances:

- Minoxidil: It is available either as a pill or liquid or foam form that is rubbed into the scalp twice daily. It is sold without a prescription and has been shown to reduce or regrowth thinning in men and women.
- Finasteride: This is only available as a prescription pill, and is only useful for men. He proved to be an effective option, but it may run the risk of certain side effects.

In both cases, patients should continue to take for the effects to continue.

2. Transplant

These are generally considered the most popular variety of medical treatment of hair loss. Here, the surgeon will remove part of the back of the head and attach it, or strand by strand or in big locks on the front of baldness. These transplanted locks then push in the new place. While the procedure can leave the patient with a certain tenderness and pain later studies have indicated a high degree of success.

3. Scalp reduction

scalp reductions are not carried out as often as before, mainly because surgeons generally prefer to avoid invasive procedures unless necessary. That said, can be an option for those who are not good candidates for transplantation. For the procedure, the bald section of the scalp is removed and a fully adult section is stretched to cover the skull. This can lead to a risk of infection and can be painful for a while after the operation, but it can produce the desired results.

4 laser therapy.

This is a new treatment option approved by the FDA, which has shown promising results in men and women. A completely non-invasive procedure, which involves the application of low level lasers to the scalp, stimulating growth and providing additional loss to a halt in 90% of patients. Patients experience pain or recovery time and undergo a series of 30-minute sessions. As a new form of therapy, however, some may be reluctant to make use of it.

Before exploring the options for the treatment of medical hair loss, it is best to discuss your options with your doctor. Its history and health play a role in determining what treatment is right for you.
